Muskoka offers its own unique charms in wintertime. Snowshoeing through the woods in the crisp air of a bright winter day, skating on a frozen lake, or just cozying up by the fire as you gaze out on a pristine view of snow-laden trees – it’s a long way from the traffic and slush of the city, in feeling and in reality.
Our Winter issue is designed to inspire you to relax and enjoy the dream that this area offers at this time of year. SML Contracting’s stunning house for the custom automotive designer and professional racecar driver Martin Barkey and his wife was a true collaboration, as SML partner Sandy Jennings and his team worked closely with the couple to turn their ideas into a bright and beautiful reality.
New England Design’s Amy Harris calls her eclectic, vintage-meets-contemporary style “badass design.” Amy recently invited us to tour a to-die-for Blue Mountains chalet she designed, along with a very cool motorcycle apparel store that’s become a clubhouse for recreational riders from all over.
Also in this issue, caterer-with-a-difference Chef Rene shares stories along with his creations, we tour a Canadian showroom of gorgeous, mostly artisan-made bath fixtures, and publisher Todd Adair tries to explain just what makes Muskoka so special.
We hope you enjoy this special time of year, in this very special place!
